2026 Monochromatic Series
This series of monochromatic oil paintings dwells in moments just before disappearance—when light recedes, industry falls silent, or the day comes to an end. Using limited palettes and nuanced shifts in value, the work honors stillness, atmosphere, and the fragile presence of what is about to be lost.
Studio Paintings
My studio paintings evolve from plein air sketches, color studies, and quick works created through direct observation. I bring these studies into the studio to develop larger, more detailed finished paintings. This process merges the spontaneous, atmospheric, and color-accurate information gathered outdoors with the controlled studio environment, allowing for refined composition, enhanced detail, and stronger structural integrity.
Plein Air
I paint en plein air to experience my subjects firsthand. Immersed in nature, I respond to the movement of wildlife, the warmth of the sun, and the rhythm of the breeze. These sensory experiences shape my process and allow me to capture the immediacy and beauty of the moment on canvas.
Small Gems
My Small Gems series is a blend of plein air studies and studio miniatures, offering a space for experimentation and a more playful approach to color, mark-making, and composition.
On Location
I prefer painting en plein air, immersing myself in the beauty of my subjects firsthand. There is a unique excitement in the effort it takes to reach a location, an experience that deepens my connection to the landscape. Some of my most fulfilling days are spent packing a lunch, hiking, or paddling my kayak to find a quiet place where I can paint.
