Hideaway at Grayton Beach

Begun en plein air in Destin, this painting captures the allure of a hidden refuge along the Florida coast. My subject was not the sun-drenched beach, but a secluded sitting spot tucked away in the shadows of the dunes. The challenge was to evoke a sense of mystery while also conveying the warm, diffused light filtering through the sand and sea oats. Final touches were added in the studio to refine the subtle shifts in value and enhance the feeling of sheltered tranquility.
